Born in Taiwan, Dr. Sun received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting from the University of North Texas (UNT), where she studied with Maestro Anshel Brusilow (former conductor of Dallas Symphony Orchestra). As a teaching fellow of UNT, she taught Fundamentals of Conducting and Repertoire Orchestral Conducting (2004-05). Currently she is employed as an Associate Professor at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), Taipei.

Her extensive conducting experience, both orchestral and choral, includes:
Lewisville Lake Symphony (2007), National Taiwan Youth Orchestra (2007), NTNU Female Choir (2007 Japan, 2008 Korea ), UNT Symphony Orchestra & Chamber Orchestra (2004, 2005), UNT Repertoire Orchestra (2004-05), Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra (2004-2010 ), Dallas Children’s Choir (2006), Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra (2004), Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra ( People's Republic of China) (2001), Hong Kong Oratorio Society (2001), Taipei County Symphony Orchestra (2000), Taipei YMCA Symphony Orchestra (1998-present), Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra (1998), Taipei Medical University Orchestra (1997-2002), Russian Philharmonic Orchestra (1996), Taipei YMCA Oratorio Choir (1994-2002, 2004-06), Taipei Century Youth Symphony Orchestra (1993-97), Taipei Opera Chorus (1993).

The musicians she has cooperated with include:
Dr. James Scott, Joseph Banowetz, Eugene Osadchy, Dr. James gillespie, Gustavo Romero, Adron Ming, Herry Gibbons, Shien-Ta Su, Dr. Chin-Hong Chen, Dr. Irin Yang, Yong-Kui Chen, Yin-Tong Shuei, Shio-Hwai Su, Chia-Hong Laio.

After receiving the Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance with I-Mann Wu from NTNU, Dr. Sun further enhanced her piano skills under Maestro Robert Scholz. She began her career as Music Educator in 1980, at Affiliated High School of NTNU. After her Master’s conducting degree with David N.F. Liao, NTNU, additional study with Maestro Karl Osterreicher, Vienna, and James Jordan, New Jersey, her further experience included teaching at the Music Department of National Taipei University of Education, National Taiwan University of Arts, Taiwan Theological College and Seminary, China Evangelical Seminary, and the music special program of Gu-Ting elementary school of Taipei.

Dr. Sun has received awards from the National Science Council for Music (1997) and Taipei Rotary International (1992). In 2008, she received the "Key of the City" from the Mayor of Lewisiville, and in 2009, the "Outstanding Alunimi" of National Taichung Female High School. She has written several music textbooks, been published in “The Journal of Music Study”, Taipei, and has participated in many research projects with the Ministry of Education and the National Center of College Entrance Examination in Taiwan. The Egret Cultural and Educational Foundation invited her to publish a recording, “Taiwanese Folk Songs” (1996).

In 2004, Dr. Sun was invited to be the Music Director of Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra (DAAYO). In the past six years, many musicians and groups have performed with it, including: Dr. Christina Long, Dr. Alice Kan, Vincent Kuo, Dr. Lewis Wong, Grace Ho, Li-Ling Liao, Mei-En Chou, Hsiao-Ling Chang, Ching-Mei Lee, Dr. Ying-Feng Chang, Li-Chan Chen, Cindy Liu, Dr. Camille Fu, Naoko Nakamura Stromberg, Gustavo Romero, Eugene Osadchy, Dr. James Scott, Dallas Children’s Choir, Denton Bach Society. Dr. Sun has been working hard on music activities in the greater Dallas area for many years.

Currently Dr. Sun is the Music Director/Conductor of Aikuang Sun Taipei Philharmonic, Taipe YMCA Oratorio Choir and Orchestra, and Female Choir of NTNU.
